Alpine Lake Fire Facts

The following information is from a press release sent out by the USFS today.  So far the fire has burned a total of 1335 acres and is only 26% contained.  The estimated date of containment is unknown at this time.  The cost to date is $1,147,000. and there are currently 226 personnel involved from various  agencies.  Agencies represented are the USFS, MN DNR, Cook County Sherif, Minnesota Incident Management, Gunflint Trail Volunteer Fire Department, National Weather Service, MNDOT, and crews from West Virginia, Indiana, Ohio, and Missouri.  So far there have only been 2 injuries; one broken finger and one twisted ankle.  Daily informational meetings will be held at Fire Hall 3, located at the Blankenberg Landing, at 10:00 AM.
