Blog Author – Sue Prom

Sue Prom, along with her husband Mike, own and operate Voyageur Canoe Outfitters at the end of Minnesota’s Gunflint Trail.  They have outfitted trips into the Boundary Waters and Quetico Provincial Park since 1993 when they purchased Voyageur.  They live at the end of the Trail year round, 56 miles from the nearest town, Grand Marais, MN.  Grand Marais is located 2 hours Northeast of Duluth, MN on the shore of Lake Superior.

Sue enjoys her wilderness life and all of the activities she can do in her “backyard.”  In the summer she is quite busy with the business but spends as much time as possible with her two children canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, biking, swimming, and exploring the great outdoors.  She also enjoys helping coach her children in t-ball and soccer, playing in a softball league, and paddling in the Dragon Boat Races in Grand Marais.

In the winter when the kids are in school and the business is slower Sue enjoys spending time in the great outdoors with Mike.  They love to downhill ski, snowmobile the snow-covered trails, ice fish the wilderness lakes and snowshoe through the forests.  Sue’s favorite winter pastime is cross-country skiing the groomed trails on the Gunflint Trail.

While Sue is out enjoying the great outdoors she is taking pictures and mental notes for her writing.  In addition to her daily writings in her blog she writes an e-mail newsletter for Voyageur monthly, a print newsletter for Voyageur annually and submits articles to local publications.
