Trophy Northern Fishing

As soon as the ice goes out you will find us hunting for Northern on Saganaga.  This is an excellent time of the year to catch large Northern and we can fish them anytime on the border of Minnesota and Canada.  The twenty plus pound monsters like to hang out in the cool, shallow waters before the summer heats the water up.  Northern can be found feeding on smaller baitfish or hanging around shallow weed beds.  We’ve had guests who have gone out on trips right after ice out and caught some awesome Northerns.  The Granite River trip is a nice route to choose for an early season trip because of the small, narrow, bodies of water.  If you search around rocks and reefs and use a technique that covers alot of water, you’re almost sure to have a successful Northern Hunt.
