Paddling Posture
Some of you are able to get out and practice paddling year round where you live. But others, like us who live at the end of the Gunflint Trail, can only dream of open water and paddling across a wilderness lake right now. But anyone can practice the proper paddling posture anywhere at anytime. Proper posture with your nose inline with your navel will help you to center your weight. This will make your canoe more stable and will give you better control of your watercraft. To help strengthen your core be sure to suck in those abs while you are practicing. Until our ice goes off, which is normally around the first week of May, don’t be surprised if you see us paddling around our store on our office chairs with a broom stick as a paddle.
