The Ice is Nice

Yesterday was an absolutely gorgeous day on the Gunflint Trail.  It didn’t start out too wonderful for me due to another alarm clock mishap.  Josh was suppose to be in town by 7:30 AM in order to get a ride to Silver Bay for hockey practice.  Unfortunately when my eyes finally opened the clock said 7:20 AM.  There wasn’t anyway I was going to make it to town in 10 minutes so Josh missed out on practice.

The sun shined all day long and the temperatures were up into the 30’s.  I’m not sure if it was guilt for missing practice or the procrastination of another job that made Mike decide to start shoveling off a rink in front of our house on the river.  Whatever the reason was, I’m glad because not only was Josh able to skate for a couple of hours but also the whole family.  The ice was in perfect shape and there wasn’t a bump to be found.  I’ve never seen ice like that outside of an arena and it made for a fun-filled afternoon on the Gunflint Trail.
