Take a Kid Fishing!

I’d love to take a kid ice fishing! Josh went ice fishing or should I say ice spearing today.  They saw lots of fish swimming by and one of them came home with him.  I hope I get to take a kid ice fishing January 17-19th!

Take-A-Kid Ice Fishing Weekend is this month! On January 17-19, Minnesota residents can fish for free when fishing with a child age 15 or under. Catch some family time and plan a special ice fishing weekend. Many Minnesota state parks are offering fishing programs this month as well.

Saturday, Jan. 17, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.: Get hands-on instruction and try one of Minnesota’s favorite winter activities at Fort Snelling State Park’s Parent and Child Ice Fishing program. All equipment and bait are provided! Please register in advance by calling 612-725-2724.
Saturday, Jan. 17, 12:30 p.m. – 3 p.m.: Head to Lake Bemidji State Park for the Berrmidji Kids Can Fish event. Call the park at 218-308-2300 to make a reservation.
Sunday, Jan. 18, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: Bundle up the family and head to Whitewater State Park for the Take-A-Kid Ice Fishing program. Equipment and bait are provided but space is limited. Call the park at 507-932-3007 to save your spot.
Saturday, Jan. 24, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.: Can you catch the big one? Visit Glacial Lakes State Park to learn the basics of ice fishing. Please bring your own equipment and bait. Register by calling 320-852-7200.
