Sunshine in Our Forecast

While much of Minnesota is saturated and expecting more rain the Gunflint Trail expects sunshine this weekend.  Forecast calls for temperatures in the mid to high 50’s and plenty of el sol.  It is a perfect weekend to come up the shore of Lake Superior and the Gunflint Trail to check out the amazing fall colors.  The red maples are magnificent and the wildlife is out and about. We saw three timberwolves on the Gunflint Trail this morning and the moose are on the move. With southern Minnesota soggy head north this weekend.

From the MN DNR:  Heavy rains are having an immediate impact on Minnesota state parks and trails in many parts of the state, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
Depending on location, visitors may find rivers and streams topping their banks, higher lake water levels, trail washouts, campground closures, flooded or eroded roadways and some facility closures.
DNR staff will continue to assess conditions over the next couple of days to provide updated information where possible. In spite of significant rainfall, many facilities and locations will remain open with little or no interruption to normal operations.
Current closures due to flooding:
