Oh What a Beautiful Morning

It was a cool crisp morning with a slight fog clinging to the water’s surface.  The birds were singing and the loons yodeling.  There was a thin layer of frost on the dock and the river was calm as the light of the morning sun shone on it.  If only a person could stop time to sit and enjoy the serenity of a beautiful morning.

However it’s that time of year and the phone is ringing and there are people to please.  The sun quickly rises and before you know it the sun is setting and the day is gone.  Where the time goes I have no clue. There’s always an endless list of things to do.

We’re keeping busy as usual at Voyageur Canoe Outfitters.  We’re lucky to have some awesome help here already including Eric, Jennifer, Chad and of course John.  John’s wife Anne was up over the weekend and helped out tremendously with the rearranging of the store and when she left Jennifer took her place.  It’s finally coming together.

Chad and Eric spent yesterday clearing up some brush and releasing some of the pine trees I’ve planted over the years.  It sure looks nice to have it cleaned up like that.  It’s the little things that make the difference.

Adam is here and helping out some too.  He’s been up in outfitting organizing equipment while Jennifer gets the food packing area ready.  Of course Elsa and Ron are here too and there isn’t anything Elsa can’t do.  She goes from cleaning to cooking to sewing to putting inventory in the store and organizing outfitting.  She’s an amazing woman that I get tired just watching.

It is indeed a beautiful morning on the Gunflint Trail. But with the beautiful surroundings and wonderful crew, how could it be anything but beautiful?
