Gunflint Trail for National Trail’s Day
Each year on June 6th the American Hiking Association celebrates National Trail’s Day. I wasn’t able to take a hike yesterday because Josh had friends over a day early for his birthday. I decided to take them fishing because it is also Minnesota’s Take a Kid Fishing Weekend. As if that wasn’t enough Mike and I also celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary. I’m not sure if I’ll have the opportunity to go for a hike today but I know if I did I would want to spend it hiking on the Gunflint Trail.
There are so many great hiking trails to enjoy on the Gunflint Trail. The best thing about these trails is the fact barely anone uses them. I rarely encounter other people when I venture out onto the trails on the Gunflnt Trail. I’ve hiked the Bryce Breon numerous times and have never seen another person on the trail. Same with the Seagull Lake Nature Trail and many sections of the Border Route Trail. There’s great hiking to be found on National Trail’s Day and every day on the Gunflint Trail.
Maybe to celebrate Josh’s birthday today he and I will find a hike to enjoy since we weren’t able to on National Trail’s Day. Go take a hike or take a kid fishing; you can’t lose either way.
