Grouse Showing Off

     The grouse have been out sunning themselves on the Gunflint Trail.  One was sitting on a branch on a downed tree in our driveway just looking for a mate.  Another one was on a nearby driveway showing off all of his fluff.  I’ve heard them drumming in the woods as they thump, thump, thump.  Josh hopes they stick around until this fall when hunting season opens but he assures me he won’t kill one in our yard or one with chicks.
