Baby It’s Cold Inside

I woke up this morning and the tip of my nose was cold.  I went downstairs to see what the temperature was and I had to do a double take.  The thermometer on the top of the piano measures both inside and outside temperatures and one said 32 while the other said 40.  In a morning daze I looked more closely and determined the outside temperature was negative 32 degrees and the inside temperature was 40 degrees above zero.

Our propane heater decided it didn’t want to work anymore.  Thankfully the children’s rooms have electric baseboard heaters so they were nice and toasty.  Our main room has a wood burning fireplace, one small baseboard heater, and the propane heater.  There was a fire burning in the fireplace but it just couldn’t keep up against the bitter cold outside.

We knew something was going wrong with our heater and had a professional come to fix it last Thursday.  He cleaned it up some, offered some advice about airflow and went on his way.  Today Mike is downloading instructions from the internet and will do his best to try to keep it running for more than two minutes at a time.

Maybe by Super Bowl Time we’ll have the temperature up to 60 degrees inside.   I’m dressed in layers to stay warm, 3 on the bottom, 4 on the top, a hood on my head and mukluks on me feet.  All I have to do if I feel sorry for myself is step outside for a minute and then I’m thankful for the shelter over my head.
