A Time to Paddle

For everything there is a time and there is always a time to paddle.  A time to be floating weightlessly on top of a shimmering blue body of water in a canoe.

We’ve had a few people out taking advantage of the beautiful fall days we have been having.  Short day trips are perfect for this time of the year and we’ve had people who have paddled Seagull with the entire lake to themselves.  Adam and Billi took advantage of the high water and paddled Larch Creek, something that isn’t normally done in October.

We were lucky enough to be able to paddle the Mighty Mississippi over MEA.  We just went out for a quick paddle but it was long enough to see a blue heron, four bald eagles, lots of ducks, a red squirrel and comorants hanging out in the trees.

There is a time to enjoy the peace and quiet of the wilderness at the end of the Gunflint Trail and that time is now.
