Wife Runs Over Husband While Snowmobiling

     Well, it wasn’t me running over Mike but either incident certainly could have happened to anyone in our group during our trip.  Thankfully none of us had to go to the hospital during our four day, 500+ mile snowmobile trip. We had a fantastic time and I’ll fill in some details of the trip over the next few days.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A husband and wife from Hanover and a man for Byron were injured in two separate snowmobile accidents Saturday in St. Louis County.
According to authorities, the first accident occurred at approximately 10 a.m., in Normanna Township when a 46-year-old Byron man was thrown from his snowmobile on an icy corner of the Northshore Trail. His helmet struck his chest on impact, and he complained of chest pains. He was taken to a local hospital. His snowmobile suffered minor damage.
The second accident occurred in Gnesen Township near Fish Lake at approximately 12:41 p.m. when 36-year-old Martin Schumacher lost control of his snowmobile and rolled it while taking a turn.
His wife, 35-year-old Jennifer Schumacher, was driving behind him on the trail. When she noticed him lying on the trail, she accidently applied the throttle instead of the brake – hurling her snowmobile into him.
They were both taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, where she was treated for a leg injury. Martin Schumacher suffered back and neck injuries. The couple, residents of Hanover, are inexperienced riders and had borrowed the snowmobiles.
