Warming Up the Gunflint Trail

This morning when I woke up it was only 10 below zero and by the time I was on my way home from the bus it was only 7 below.  I’m not sure what our Gunflint Trail Groundhog saw this year but this first week of February has been cold and dry.  According to Dave’s Weather the average high temperature for February 2007 is -10.01 degrees, the average low temperature is -23 degrees and the average temperature is -16.51 degrees.

It’s going to take some warmer weather to get the averages up to a more "normal" range.  I’m hoping for a year like 2001 where the average high temperature was 16.27 degrees, low -6.25 degrees and average temperature was 5.01 degrees.  The best part of 2001 was the 27.76" of snow received on the Gunflint Trail that February.  We can only hope for more of the white stuff since the forecast doesn’t call for any in the near future.
