WAIT! Don’t Leave Yet

When I said I was fine with winter being over after Mush for a Cure I didn’t think Mother Nature would take me so seriously.  I still have trails to ski, lake trout to catch and places I want to snowshoe.  It might not be possible if the temperatures stay this warm.

The day after Mush for a Cure, March 13th, the temperature barely got above freezing.  Since then the temperatures have been in the high 40’s and yesterday it got up to 49 degrees.  It’s even been drizzling off and on and nothing eats the snow faster than rain.

There’s still plenty of snow to get out and enjoy winter activities on the Gunflint Trail.  Guests who have been staying at Voyageur this past week have had fun snowmobiling out to their fishing holes.  They caught over 49 lake trout and released most of them.  They have also enjoyed snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and checking out the signs of our local wildlife.

With Josh’s hockey season and Mush for a Cure over I have a little bit of time to get outside and play.  I better make it a priority this weekend or next because it won’t be long and the snow will be gone.

  Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

An Irish Blessing

May the road rise up to meet you,

May the wind be always at your back,

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

And the rains fall soft upon your fields,

            And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
