Trails in the Arrowhead Region

If you’re a cross-country skiier then you are in luck. There are open ski trails in Cook County.  Most of the trails are in pretty good shape with plenty of snow on them. Many volunteer hours were spent clearing trails after a heavy wet snow caused branches to break off of trees and fall onto the trail.

Volunteers are working to get the snowmobile trails in shape too after the wet snow.  There are many miles of snowmobile trails and some of the trail sections are a little bit soft yet. We had a wet fall followed by a big dumping of snow before the ground had a chance to freeze solid.  The snow insulates the ground preventing it from freezing up.

I haven’t had my cross-country skis or snowmobile out yet but am looking forward to heading out in the near future. Happy Trails to you!
