Summer Staff Says Hello
Yes, we have said good-bye to some of this year’s staff and yesterday we said hello, and welcome back to some past Voyageur staff. Heather Christy worked for us at Voyageur for a number of years but we hadn’t seen her since she left in 2001. She has been living out East in Oregon and Idaho and will spend a couple of days reminiscing about her time at Voyageur and enjoying the BWCA. Mike’s brother Scott also worked for us for a summer and he accompanied Heather on this trip up North. He is an F-15 pilot in the US Air Force and will be heading overseas for a year starting this September. A number of past crew members visit us during the summer; Jeremy Howard, a firefighter in the Twin Cities and his wife Kiki come up quite often. Matt Miller has gone on numerous canoe trips since he was an employee of Voyageur and a most recent one was with 3 other past employees, Doug and Megan Fink and Heather Mattson. Doug and Megan worked for us and ended up getting married! Micheal Dougherty, who is an architect in Vail now, was up recently to paddle the Boundary Waters. Teri Eicher from Duluth brought a group of friends up camping in July, she spent 2 summers at Voyageur. I’m sure I’ve forgotten someone, but in any case, it is awesome to meet so many great "kids" and see what wonderful "adults" they become. At Voyageur, our employees live on property and eat 3 meals a day together, needless to say, we get to know each other quite well during a summer. It is such a pleasure to get together and catch up on life with our Voyageur Family and we welcome them all back anytime.
