Snowmobile Club Fun
If you are looking for something to do the first Sunday in March then be sure to join us at the Annual Trout Derby held by the Cook County Ridge Riders Snowmobile Club. The Derby is an annual event that will begin at 9:00 AM on Sunday, March 4th. This year’s Derby is on Gunflint Lake and is being held in conjunction with the Gunflint Trail Winter Tracks Festival.
If you are a member of the Ridge Riders Club then there is no fee to participate, if you are not a member then you can sign up there for $25.00/person or $45.00/family. This fee enters you into the fishing contest where you can win great prizes and it gets you a raffle ticket so you are eligible to win some other terrific prizes.
You don’t have to be an expert angler to join in the fun at the Trout Derby. Mike and other local anglers will be on site with equipment available to show you how to ice fish. Even if you don’t want to fish there will be other activities to enjoy; a snowshoe obstacle course, ice auger drilling contest, and much more. Come and join the fun.
The Cook County Ridge Riders Snowmobile Club welcomes new members throughout the year. Since they are a non-profit organization they rely heavily on donations and memberships to keep their equipment in proper working order and to pay the groomers to keep the trails in tip-top shape. If you would like more information about membership then you can check out their website at http://www.boreal.org/ridgeriders, e-mail them at guzzidoo@boreal.org, call 387-9392 or send them a letter to PO Box 665 Grand Marais MN 55604.
