Oh What a Beautiful Day…
Sunshine, clear skies, and a high of around 70 degrees. It is another beautiful day on the Gunflint Trail and a perfect day for a hike in the woods. This is one of the best times to enjoy the hiking trails because there are no people and more importantly, no bugs! Spring offers great views and a good chance of seeing wildlife since the leaves haven’t grown on the trees yet to block the view. The once frozen creeks and ponds are now liquid and waterfowl has found their way to the only open water around. All of the lakes on the Gunflint Trail still have ice on them and my predictions for ice out on Saganaga Lake is around the 25th of this month. Be sure to keep an eye on the blog because I will let you know as soon as the ice goes off on Sag.
