Mush is Less Than a Month Away!

Where does the time go? Mush for a Cure,  the Gunflint Trail Sled Dog FUNdraiser is less than a month away.  It’s hard to believe but it’s true and yet there is so much to do!

Friday night will be like totally rad because this year’s theme is the 80’s! I’ll be in my comfort zone since I tried to grow up during the 80’s. I’ll be getting out my hot rollers and Aqua Net for my hair and I’m looking for some Cyndy Lauper type clothing to wear. We shall see what I find.

We’ll have the Brave, Bald and Beautiful on Friday night where heads are going to roll, I mean get shaved.  Have you ever heard of Gunflint Lodge? Well owner Bruce Kerfoot has his head on the line this year along with the owner of Hungry Jack Lodge and a lodge on the north shore.  I’m not sure if the north shore participant has been revealed yet, so I’m not going to do it here. But I do know it’s going to be a very fun and interesting night.

Saturday will be fabulous as usual. We have mushers coming from all over including Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and Washington.  I think we’re up to about 30 mushers with room for more. These folks have already raised over $12,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.  Last year our donation to NBCF was over $40,000 and this year we hope to send $50,000!  You can make a donation online if you’d like to support us.

If you work for a generous employer or own your own business or just want to pick out something you think a musher would like then feel free to send it on up.  Mushers raise pledges and some receive prizes based upon how much they earn.  We’ve had generous folks like Granite Gear, Oboz Footwear and Tubbs donate gear for the event and the mushers love it.

It’s a great event for an even better cause and we’d love to see you on the Gunflint Trail for it.  It will be so MUSH fun you won’t want to miss it.  Hope to see you there.
