More Berries

Even though it is almost July our Juneberries are not yet ripe.  Juneberries are a member of the rose family and we normally call ours Serviceberries.  We have a bush in our front yard and I’ve heard there are a number of things you can do with berries such as these including making pies, jams, jellies and wine.  The only thing I do with Serviceberries, or any other berry, is eat them right from the bush.  I know people who pick enough strawberries, blueberries and raspberries to last the whole winter but when I go picking I am lucky if I go home with a cup full.  If you are like some of my friends then you may be interested in submitting a recipe to the tv show WDSE Cooks.  They are looking for the "Berry Best" recipes for their new cookbook and tv show.  Send your favorite berry recipe to pbseight@wdse.pbs.org.
