Fire Danger
We’ve been lucky so far this year. The occasional rain showers we have had have come at just the right time when things were beginning to get dry. The forest conditions are good overall in the Boundary Waters and we haven’t had a single fire or fire ban yet. Of course conditions can change very quickly with hot, dry, and windy weather but it looks like there are chances for rain in the forecast. Hopefully we’ll keep getting sufficient rain to keep the forest floor from drying up. The Quetico Park hasn’t received quite as much precipitation as the BWCA and although they do not have a fire restriction at this time they are recommending people use their camp stoves instead of open fires. As always, please use care when travelling in the wilderness and make sure your fire is dead out before you leave camp.
