Eastern BWCA Prescribed Burns

The USFS has been conducting prescribed burns along the Gunflint Trail.  The One Island, Saucer and Gunflint Palisade burns have all been ignited while the Crocodile Burn was not.  The burns did cause some closures of campsites, entry points and hiking trails but due to the low visitor volume this time of year, very few people were affected.  There were planes in the sky, fire vehicles travelling the roads, and smoke in the air, but other than that it was business as usual along the Gunflint Trail.  The forecast calls for rain and cold weather so we’ll have to see what Mother Nature brings for the Prescribed Burning on the Trail.
