Daylight

The sunshine continues and the daylight hours continue to get longer every day.  Sunrise comes early here at the end of the Gunflint Trail and the birds are already singing by 4:30 a.m.  The sun doesn’t technically rise until 5:08 a.m. but it’s light enough to wake a person up before that.  The sun stays with us all day and doesn’t officially set until 9:08 p.m.  We will have the longest day of the year on the 21st of June and then after that the days will start to get shorter again.  There is little time to see the stars since they don’t come out until after 10:30 p.m.  It’s difficult to convince the kids it’s time for bed when it is so light out, almost as difficult as it is to keep working in the winter when it’s dark at 4:00 p.m.  Come enjoy the light now because before we know it, the days will be short again.
