A Nice Hike
I don’t think people realize how many nice hikes there are on the Gunflint Trail. There are trails all over and if you’re as absent minded as I am then you can hike the same trail over and over yet not know which way to go or where you are going.
I hiked the same trail two times last fall. The first day I got off of the trail and didn’t end up where I wanted to be. The second day I figured out which way I was suppose to go. Fast forward five months and I’m back at the same trail just as confused as ever.
You would think I would be a cheap date. You could purchase one movie and I could watch the movie over and over and not remember it, right? Wrong. For some odd reason I can remember every detail about a movie or a book right when I start watching or reading it again. I don’t like to re-read or watch something twice because it isn’t half as entertaining.
I don’t know what it is about hiking trails but Tara and I were entertained for four hours as we circled through the woods. We found the way in, followed some paths and made our way back out again. I couldn’t tell you where we were on the map but we had a good time.
The grouse were drumming and the peep frogs peeping in the swamps. We saw a couple of mallards and spotted lots of moose and wolf scat along the trail. There were moose prints everywhere but no antlers to be found.
All in all it was a nice hike. One of the many on the Gunflint Trail. If you’re looking for somewhere to go hiking then come on up and visit us at Voyageur. I wish I could say I would point you in the right direction, but I’m not so sure I would know. That’s what makes hiking such a fun adventure for me.
