Weekend Events on the Trail and Elsewhere

The weekends are always filled with fun things to do.  Last weekend was the 4th Annual Ham Run Half-Marathon and this weekend on the Gunflint Trail is the Green Up.  There is still time to register for the weekend’s events that include food, music, hikes and planting trees in areas affected by the Ham Lake Fire in 2007.

Elsewhere this weekend is Clear Waters Outfitting Company’s Mississippi Meltdown.  Located just an hour from the Twin Cities on the Mississippi River is a great shop and outfitting company offering canoe trips on the mighty Mississippi.  The forecast looks perfect for a paddle or to spend a day looking at paddling gear.  With a live auction of canoes and kayaks you may just become an owner of a new watercraft.  Voyageur Canoe Outfitters will be there on Saturday, May 7, from 10am-6pm so look for Mike and me!

It looks like it’s going to be a great weekend with temperatures in the mid 60’s on the Gunflint Trail. With warm weather like that predicted throughout the next week the ice should disappear soon.
