Snow on the Gunflint
On Monday morning we awoke to a fresh blanket of snow on the ground and sticking to all of the trees. It looks like a postcard outside our window with the open water on the river still flowing and the snow surrounding it. A good two inches of white stuff came down and is now resting peacefully, will it stay or go? Only Mother Nature knows.
Some of the smaller lakes are still struggling to freeze after last week’s warm spell. The wet snow is heavy and pushes down on the ice. If the forecast doesn’t change then I would guess we will see the bare earth yet again before winter comes to stay on the Gunflint Trail.
