Resolve To Paddle

If you’re making New Year Resolutions then I highly suggest you add paddling to your list. The beginning of a new year is a great time to set some personal goals and do some planning. Camping in the canoe country is good for you so it makes sense to resolve to paddle this year.

I’m not much of a resolution maker. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I made New Year Resolutions. Maybe it’s because I’m always trying to achieve some goal and re-adjusting throughout the year as needed. I do make summer resolutions and those always include canoe camping trips.

I like to sit down with the kids when they are getting tired of school and ask, “What do you want to do this summer?”  We’ll make a list of the “Must Do’s” and the “Like to Do’s” and make a plan for the summer.  The challenge is the list can get pretty long and the summer days fly by but if we don’t plan it then it doesn’t happen.

What do I love to see on the list? A family canoe trip! It always makes the list. A canoe trip with friends and specific lakes the kids want to go to with specific kids. The more lakes we visit and the more kids they introduce to canoe camping means more time we need to spend camping. And that is fine with me.

I hope you’ll make your New Year’s Resolutions or Summer Resolutions and I hope a canoe camping trip is at the top of your list.
