Orange Season
Deer hunting has begun on the Gunflint Trail. The hunters are out in full force and are easily recognizable with their blaze orange. You can spot them sitting in the woods almost a mile away in the blowdown or clear cut areas; one big spot of orange amidst all of the brown. The opening day was uneventful for all of our neighbors who were out hunting. Mike didn’t see any deer and none of our friends saw a buck. The sudden onset of traffic in the woods so early in the morning surely set off deer alarms and they in response laid low throughout the day. It was a cool, damp day, but it was still a day spent in the woods and sometimes that is good enough.
