During the 4th Annual Mush for a Cure Sled Dog Fundraiser
Ever wish you could turn back time and re-live those special moments like the High School Prom? Now you can during the Mush for a Cure’s Pink Prom Pasta Party. Friday night’s spaghetti dinner at
If you want to look really good then come early and get a hair cut during the Cut for a Cure. Andrea Peterson, owner of Studio 61 in Grand Marais will be cutting for a cure from 5-7pm. Until then let your hair grow so you can be a part of The Bald, Brave and Beautiful during the Mush for a Cure.
The Bald, Brave and Beautiful will feature contestants willing to have their heads shaved to raise money for Mush for a Cure. Each contestant’s fate is in your hands as they have chosen to go bald if the price is right. When a person gives a $10 donation to have their hair cut he or she will be able to choose whose kitty their money will go into. Donations can be made without having your hair cut and prior to Friday the 12th by sending a check with the name of a specific individual in the memo section. The donation totals for each individual will be posted online and at the event.
Cook County Sheriff Mark Falk will compete against Chief Deputy Leif Lunde while Gunflint Trail Volunteer Fire Department Chief Mike Prom will square off against Deputy Chief of the GTVFD Bob Baker. All of them have their hair on the chopping block to raise money for the cause. Out of each pairing the one person with the most money on their head will end up with the least amount of hair on their head. That person will need some extra insulation in their hat for the remainder of the winter. Musher Don Deckert has volunteered to compete against someone from the mushing community but we’re still waiting for a brave soul to volunteer.
Mush for a Cure excitement begins early on Friday, March 12th so plan to spend the entire weekend on the Gunflint Trail. Attend the Pink Prom Pasta Party, get a Cut for a Cure and be ready for a pink-filled weekend of fun..
