My Fishing Buddy
Josh is my little fishing buddy. The other day we decided to go on a fishing adventure and invited Abby along, but she didn’t want to come, so it was just the two of us. We hopped in the boat, motored across the Seagull River and hiked our trail to the back lake. We loaded the canoes with our fishing gear and started trolling immediately. We didn’t catch anything by the time we reached the portage into the 2nd lake but we did see a Bald Eagle and a loon. We crossed the short portage, got back into the canoes and started fishing again.
This time we had hits almost immediately, both of us at the same time. I reeled in a Smallmouth Bass and he reeled in a Northern Pike. That was the beginning of almost constant catching and we were kept busy for the next hour by releasing Smallmouth after Smallmouth in the 16-20" range. It was a blast reeling them in, watching them jump, and then letting them swim away. It was a hot day so we paddled over to an island to take a dip in the cool, refreshing water. Of course we had to try casting from shore as well but didn’t have any luck.
We did have a great day together; no phones, no television, and no interruptions. Just Josh and Me, trolling lures, catching fish, and enjoying our special time together.
