Mostly Sunny

That’s what the current 7-day forecast calls for at the end of the Gunflint Trail.  "Good things come to those who wait."  We have waited all "summer" long for the weather we experienced last week and are expected to have this coming week.  In the 70’s and mostly sunny, it just doesn’t get much better than that.

The one complaint I have about the weather is that it’s a little too late.  The days are getting shorter so the water temperature doesn’t heat up much during the day. The refreshing dips in the Boundary Waters are indeed very refreshing.  Tolerable, but a wee bit chilly if I do say so myself.  Not only are the days getting shorter but school starts on Tuesday.  I feel terrible for my children who will have to look out their classroom windows and see the sun shining brightly.  I know Josh will be daydreaming about catching frogs and crayfish when he should be listening to the teacher.

I know I really shouldn’t complain about the weather because as they say, "Better late than never."  I prefer, "Better never late."  We enjoyed the gorgeous weather and were able to paddle and camp in the best conditions of the season.  No bugs, no people, sunny skies, good fishing and the solitude of the BWCA.

Mostly sunny in the BWCA this coming week.  It looks like more of the same terrific weather on the way and I can hear the wilderness calling my name.  I bet if you listen closely then you’ll hear it to.  The question is, "Will you respond?" I hope to see you on the Trail less travelled!
