Mooses and wolves and bears…

Oh My!  The wildlife along the Gunflint Trail has been out and about lately.  Mamma moose and her twins have been hanging out in the Moose Pond almost like clockwork the past couple of weeks.  Vehicles line the road side to watch her and her calves relaxing in the water and eating weeds.

On a drive home from Grand Marais the other night I saw a young timberwolf.  It looked so nicely groomed I started to think it was a dog but when I called to him he sauntered off into the woods.  A little farther up the trail a black bear was meandering across the road.

The grouse, fox, pine martens, eagles, and otters have been running around too.  When the tourist season slows down the wildlife season speeds up!  Come on up to the Gunflint Trail and enjoy seeing all of our northwoods neighbors.
