Trail Snack – Make Your Own Maple Granola

Take that tasty maple syrup along on the trails by making this simple maple granola snack!


4 cups old-fashioned oats
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup ground flax seed
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/3 cup canola oil
2/3 cup pure maple syrup
1 teaspoon maple flavoring
1/4 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Mix oats, pecans, walnuts, flax seed, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
Stir canola oil, maple syrup, maple flavoring, and salt together in a small bowl; pour over the oat mixture and stir to coat evenly.
Bake in the preheated oven until lightly browned, about 40 minutes.
Set granola aside to cool completely before breaking into chunks.  Store in air-tight container.
