Did Somebody Say “Uncle?”
There must be a few stubborn people who refuse to give in. If everyone would just say, "Uncle" then maybe winter would give up the grip on the Gunflint Trail. I awoke to frost on the windshield again and a thermometer flashing 6 degrees. As if that wasn’t enough there’s a new Winter Storm Warning in the forecast for our area. On three everyone, 1-2-3 "UNCLE!"
WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM TUESDAY TO
7 AM CDT WEDNESDAY…
TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 12 INCHES ARE EXPECTED ACROSS
KOOCHICHING…NORTHERN SAINT LOUIS…LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES BY
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. THE ARROWHEAD WILL HAVE THE BEST CHANCE AT
RECEIVING THE HIGHER SNOWFALL. THE SNOW WILL START TO FALL AND
ACCUMULATE LATE MONDAY NIGHT OR TUESDAY MORNING…THEN INCREASE IN
INTENSITY DURING THE DAY ON TUESDAY AND CONTINUE TO FALL THROUGH
TUESDAY NIGHT. GUSTY WINDS ARE POSSIBLE AT TIMES THROUGH THIS
EVENT…WHICH WILL CAUSE AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING…AND MAKE
TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS.
A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW MEANS HEAVY SNOW
ACCUMULATION IS ANTICIPATED…AND THAT SNOWFALL RATES OF ONE INCH
PER HOUR OR GREATER CAN BE EXPECTED AT TIMES. EXPECT SNOW COVERED
ROADS AND VISIBILITY LESS THAN A QUARTER MILE. IF YOU MUST
TRAVEL…EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION AND ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO REACH
YOUR DESTINATION. LET SOMEONE KNOW YOUR TRAVEL ROUTE AND EXPECTED
ARRIVAL TIME AND HAVE A WORKING CELL PHONE IN CASE YOU BECOME
STRANDED. KEEP A WINTER SURVIVAL KIT IN YOUR VEHICLE…INCLUDING
A FLASHLIGHT…FOOD…AND WATER. IF YOU CHOOSE TO TRAVEL…BE
AWARE THAT YOU MAY BECOME STRANDED AND THAT IT MAY TAKE MANY
HOURS FOR HELP TO ARRIVE.
