Cross Quetico Canoe Race
There hasn’t been much word on the Cross Quetico Canoe Race. I was able to find the race results online to at least determine the times and the winners of the race. It looks like some teams chose not to finish the race but all teams made it to Prairie Portage, the half-way point. I can’t say that I blame them as most people take days or weeks to accomplish what the racers accomplished in a very short period of time. Kjell Peterson and Joe Manns finished the race in 23 hours 14 minutes and 17 seconds securing the first place win. James Burns and Dusty Olsen were less than 5 minutes behind them in 2nd place; talk about a close race! Third place finishers took over 25 hours and Robin Reilly, Quetico Park Superintendent secured last place with a finish time of 34 hours and 28 minutes. Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Centennial Event and attempted the almost 120 mile wilderness race.
