Cold and Windy

The day started out beautiful but has turned bitterly cold and windy. I was hoping to go cross-country skiing tomorrow morning but I think I’ll pass.

..DANGEROUS WIND CHILLS OVER FAR NORTHERN MINNESOTA TONIGHT AND
THURSDAY MORNING… …LAKE EFFECT SNOW IN THE SNOWBELT AREAS OF
NORTHWEST WISCONSIN THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING…
.ARCTIC AIR RETURNS TO THE NORTHLAND TONIGHT AND THURSDAY
MORNING. TEMPERATURES WILL FALL TO 15 TO 25 BELOW ZERO RANGE OVER
NORTHERN MINNESOTA. THE COMBINATION OF THE 10 TO 20 MPH NORTHWEST
WINDS AND COLD TEMPERATURES WILL RESULT IN DANGEROUS WIND CHILLS
OF 25 TO 40 DEGREES BELOW ZERO TONIGHT AND THURSDAY MORNING.
ALSO…THE VERY COLD NORTHERLY WINDS WILL CAUSE LAKE EFFECT SNOW
SHOWERS ACROSS THE SNOWBELT AREAS OF ASHLAND AND IRON COUNTIES
THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING. SNOWFALL AMOUNTS WILL RANGE FROM 3 TO 6
INCHES AND WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH WILL CAUSE BLOWING SNOW.
…WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM CST
THURSDAY…
* LOCATIONS…AREAS NORTH OF HIGHWAY 2 INCLUDING THE BORDERLAND
AND THE IRON RANGE INTO THE ARROWHEAD REGION.
* WIND CHILL VALUES…AS LOW AS 40 BELOW.
* WINDS…NORTHWEST 10 TO 15 MPH.
* IMPACTS…FROSTBITE CAN OCCUR ON EXPOSED FLESH WITHIN 20
MINUTES.

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS…MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND GLOVES.
