Aurora Forecast

     Many of us check the weather forecast on a daily basis but how about the Aurora Forecast?  I love to see the Northern Lights dance across the sky but unless someone calls to tell me they are out I often miss seeing them.   Now that I know of the Aurora Forecast website I can check to see how likely it is the Northern Lights will be out.  I’m not sure how accurate it is, but I guess time will tell.       

One of my favorite children’s books is about the Northern Lights, it’s called, Fiddler of the Northern Lights, by Natalie Kinsey-Warnock.  It tells about a boy and his grandfather who go ice skating on a river and see the northern lights.  His grandfather tells him a story about why the northern lights come out.  He says it is because a man is down the river playing his fiddle and the lights are dancing to his music.  They skate a long time to try and find the man but do not find him and the northern lights disappear.  The grandson is disappointed and doesn’t know whether or not to believe his grandfather but when they return home his faith in his grandfather is renewed.
