Where in Minnesota is Grand Marais?

Visitors to Voyageur Canoe Outfitters must first find Grand Marais, MN before they make the 56 mile trek to the end of the Gunflint Trail.  Grand Marais is easy to find if you know where Duluth, MN is.  All you have to do is travel north on Highway 61 for 110 miles and you’re there.  It’s a beautiful drive with many great places to stop along the way.  The saying, "Getting there is half the fun" must have originated when someone started in Duluth, drove up the shore of Lake Superior and then traveled to the end of the Gunflint Trail.

Even though we have lived at the end of the Gunflint Trail for fourteen years I still have a difficult time determining how far from Grand Marais some places are.  I have an even harder time trying to figure out how long it will take me to get there, but a little information I found may just help me figure it out.  These mileages are from Grand Marais, MN, just add 56 miles or an hour if you’re coming all of the way to our place.
