Waiting for the Weekend

The fishing opener is this coming weekend and with this week’s forecast the chance for open water looks pretty good for the lakes in the Boundary Waters around the Gunflint Trail.  Swamper Lake is now ice free and there are large open patches on many of the Gunflint Trail lakes.  On Saganaga the Canadian side of the lake is holding its ice but most other places are now open.

The temperatures are predicted to be quite warm this week.  On Wednesday the high for the day is suppose to be up into the 70’s.  The rest of the week shows 60 degree temperatures, sunshine, wind and some rain.  This is perfect weather for the removal of ice on lakes.

The fishing opener forecast looks good temperature wise too.  The fishing for walleye may not be productive based upon the cold water temperatures but the lake trout and northern pike should be shallow and ready to bite.

There’s lots to do between now and the weekend to get ready for the arrival of guests.  We do still have a cabin available and we’d love to have you stay with us. For just $250 you and up to 3 more guests can stay for 2-3 nights and use a boat and a motor for free during your stay.  It’s a great deal for what looks to be a great weekend so come on up and stay with us for the weekend.
