They’re Back! And Wondering Why They Returned

The joyful sounds of the Minnesota State bird can be heard on the Gunflint Trail lakes once again.  The loons have returned but with last night’s snowfall I’m sure they are wondering why they bothered to return at all.

While the recent snowfall does put a damper on our spring raking and other outdoor projects it will help fill the lakes with water and quench the earth’s thirst.  A few inches of snow on the ground this morning and a possibility of more on the way keeps us on our toes.  I knew it was too soon for the snow shovels to be stored away!

And to my feathered friends, don’t worry, it will melt and summer will be here soon, we’re glad you’re back safely to the Gunflint Trail.
