The Smell of Death

     Out for a walk this morning a friend and I noticed the smell of death. It was near where the fox had a den with young ones earlier this spring. It didn’t take long to find the source of the smell. Unfortunately one of the little ones didn’t make it across the road without being smashed flat by a vehicle.  It is now providing a meal for maggots.

     It’s days like these I hate the circle of life. I love to see tiny new creatures in the woods but it makes me so sad to see their lives end.  Please drive with care for your safety and the safety of our woodland friends including the turtles who are out laying their eggs right now.
