Taste the Trail

Today the Gunflint Trail Resorts are hosting a Taste of the Gunflint Trail. Folks can stop in at a number of different resorts to sample some Trail fare. I made a recipe you can find in the Gunflint Trail Cookbook under the Voyageur Canoe Outfitters information. It’s my Aunt Bea’s recipe for Sour Cream and Raisin Pie and it’s absolutely to die for. I allowed my staff to sample some last night and although they liked it they had other ideas for items we could offer.

I have to admit the crew was thinking quite creatively while I on the other hand obviously was not. Mike Irwin thought we should offer a Peak bar or Granola Bar because that’s what we supply to our guests. That’s true according to Chelsea but she thought we should actually serve part of the Trail. Perhaps the tar I retrieved from the road the other day.

That sounded like a good idea to me but I also thought we could serve other things found on the Gunflint Trail. There are lots of great treats found on the Gunflint Trail. The blueberries are abundant, rose hips can be made into soup and along with the tar, there are bear droppings everywhere. In any case, you are welcome to come to Voyageur Canoe Outfitters for a Taste of the Trail. What you will receive will depend upon who is in the store at the time of your arrival!
