Snowflakes Falling
It’s a good thing the kids haven’t had school this week. Since they have been at home they have been able to help with all of the shoveling. Just when the snow gets cleared off of the deck the snowflakes start falling again. We received over 3 inches of the white stuff on the 1st day of the new year.
I’m not going to complain about the snow. It’s perfect for skiing and extraordinary for snowshoeing. The sledding is good and the snowmobiling is even better. The temperatures are expected to be comfortable too.
December of 2008 was cold; colder than any we have had since before 1997. The average temperature for December was 1.88. Suprisingly we received 27.25 inches of snow; enough to make it the snowiest December we have had since before 1997. Record breaking cold and record breaking snowfall all in the same month. Thanks to Dave for keeping track of the weather on the Gunflint Trail.
