Remember the Reason

Just one look on a frenzied mother’s face in a crowded checkout lane reminds a person just how crazy the holidays have become.  The Christmas stuff was on the shelves by Halloween and the aisles were brimming with decorations, lights and gifts.  The shopping environment and commercials seem to almost hypnotize a person into buying things they can’t afford and don’t need.  Advertisements try to convince you that what you have isn’t good enough; you need the new style, the updated version and every game that goes with it.  Panic sets in when you doubt yourself and the gift you bought for that special person; "What if they don’t like it?  What if they spent more on me?" Oh how the holidays can get muddled up.

This year, try to make the holidays a little more meaningful.  Focus on your family, your friends and the true meaning of Christmas.

"And he puzzled three hours, till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before! "Maybe Christmas," he thought, "doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more!"
