Photos of Stairway Portage

I found some neat pictures online the other day. They are the property of the Cook County Historical Society and they were taken when Stairway Portage was being built. The Civilian Conservation Corps constructed the new wooden staircase that bypasses the Stairway Falls between Duncan and Rose Lakes. The photo is from the Albert Malner scrapbook from 1935. Stairway Portage and the falls are a popular spot for folks traveling in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.
