Own a Piece of History
Right next door to us at Voyageur Canoe Outfitters is a wonderful piece of property that is currently for sale. The property and the buildings were once used as a canoe outfitting business until the USFS bought it. The following information is from the Cook County News Herald on December 22, 1986.
It might come down to picking straws, that’s how close the two bids were for the right to operate the former Tip of the Trail Outfitters, located 55 miles northwest of Grand Marais near the Gunflint Trail’s end.
Purchased a year and a half ago from Bill and Sue Douglas under provisions of the 1987 BWCA Act, Tip of the Trail was once a bustling canoe outfitters that the Forest Service would like to see back in the hands of a private operator.
