Missing in the BWCA

Someone was taking advantage of the beautiful weather and paddling this past weekend. I’m guessing that someone didn’t have a life vest on or he may have made it home.

There’s a 59-year-old man from Duluth, MN who didn’t come off of the water on Sunday. His vehicle was found at the McFarland Lake boat landing at the end of the Arrowhead Trail and his canoe was found along with paddles and gear on Pine Lake.  Unfortunately there is no sign of the man and there is a search in progress for what I’m guessing is the recovery of a body.

I usually don’t like to wear a life vest when I’m paddling. I wear one of those  life saving belts that you can pull to inflate if you are in trouble. But in the fall, when I’m paddling alone, I wear a regular life vest because when it’s cold and your alone you just never know.

Hoping and praying for the best for this man and his family.
