MEA Break
If you live in Minnesota then you’re familiar with MEA. It’s the Minnesota Educator Academy held on the third Thursday and Friday in October every year. It’s a time for teachers to get together and learn. I’ve never understood why this conference doesn’t happen during the summer when there is no school but as a student and as a parent, I like the fact the kids don’t have school.
We usually plan a short trip during this time because football and volleyball is normally over by now. Due to a scheduling snafu at the TCF Stadium where the State Football Championships are held the entire football season for High School teams was pushed back a week this year. That and the fact our Cook County Vikings won their first play-off game means we have football practice over break this year. We also have a game on Saturday the 14th so no trip this year.
Many people in Minnesota are no doubt taking advantage of the break and visiting the North Shore. The fall colors are still gorgeous and the weather has been wonderful. Fall is still a busy time in Grand Marais and on the North Shore and MEA is especially busy.
Happy MEA Break to all who get to enjoy it.
