A search was under way for a 25-year-old man missing in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office said Friday night.

Authorities said Ty D. Sitter of Janesville, Wis., was last seen fishing in a canoe by himself at 7 p.m. Thursday on Swan Lake. His party reported him missing shortly after midnight on Friday.

Cook County Search and Rescue was searching for Sitter and had established a staging area at Brule Lake as of Friday night. Anyone with information about Sitter’s location is asked to call the Cook County Sheriff’s Office at (218) 387-3030.
